On Oct 3, the final of the “Canyon Flavors, Creative Nujiang” G219 Coffee Journey mixology competition opened in Lushui City, Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, with eight finalists competing using Nujiang specialty coffee beans as a base combined with local produce.

The competition designated the “Nuxiaoka” specialty coffee bean. Distinctive canyon ingredients such as caoguo (black cardamom), citron and local honey were blended into the creations. Six professional judges scored contestants on technical and sensory dimensions, covering operational standards, taste and creative concept. Competitors had to finish their drinks within a set time while sharing the Nujiang story behind their work. Judge Zhang Jing said the entries each showed real ingenuity and fully expressed Nujiang’s distinctive terroir.
After six hours of intense competition, Lin Ye from Fuzhou, Fujian Province, won first prize with the work “One Tree, Four Seasons.” Built around the growth cycle from coffee flower to coffee cherry, it blended local passion fruit, litsea and bergamot for rich, layered flavors, earning the judges’ approval. “Nujiang coffee beans are outstanding in quality, and this event also showed me the strong local support for the coffee industry,” Lin said.

According to the organizers, the competition builds a bridge for industry exchange and helps Nujiang coffee upgrade from a raw-material advantage to product and brand strengths. After the event, three to five outstanding works will have their recipes transferred and rolled out in commercial stores, bringing competition creativity to the mass consumer market and supporting the integrated development of cultural tourism along the G219 corridor.
