Recently, the 7th Nujiang Specialty Coffee Culture Week, themed “China’s Coffee Comes from Yunnan, Infinite Possibilities in Nujiang,” was held in Lushui City, Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province.

The main venue was set on the west bank of the Nujiang River in Lushui City. Events included a canyon coffee music festival, a coffee mixology competition, a short-video creative contest, a rallycross carnival, a thousand-person communal hand-grabbed meal and a stone light-and-shadow show, with parallel activities held across local townships.
Building on the G219 national highway cultural tourism corridor, organizers launched a “G219 Coffee Road Passport” that strings together coffee estates, specialty cafes and scenic spots along the route. Visitors can check in along the highway, try cave cafes and cliffside cafes, and experience formats such as “coffee plus intangible heritage,” “coffee plus camping” and “coffee plus study tours.”
The coffee market brought together specialty beans and coffee-derived products from Yunnan’s six major coffee-growing regions: Pu’er, Baoshan, Lincang, Dehong, Xishuangbanna and Nujiang.

“The event drew big crowds, and many coffee enthusiasts came specially to taste and exchange ideas,” said Liu Qingkun, head of Jiangzuo Coffee Estate Co., Ltd. in Lincang. He said he hopes the coffee gathering will draw more people into the grand canyon to experience the blend of landscape and coffee.

In recent years, Lushui City has built on its distinctive canyon ecology and industrial endowments, positioning itself as a “cultural tourism and outdoor hub for Nujiang” and a “new city of branded events, leisure and residence.” It has deepened the cultural tourism IP “Mysterious Nujiang, Warm Lushui, Blooming 219” and built a year-round events system featuring “activities every week, themes every month and festivals every season” — using events to boost tourism, competitions to grow industry and culture to add value, steadily polishing the brand of Nujiang’s canyon coffee industry.
