According to the latest report on the development of China's data industry released by the conference, the scale of China's data industry will reach 6.78 trillion yuan by 2025, a year-on-year increase of 15.7%. As of August 2026, a total of over 126000 high-quality datasets have been built nationwide, with a total data volume of over 1815PB, an increase of over 89% compared to March 2026. The scale of the data industry continues to grow rapidly.
Liu Liehong, Director of the National Data Administration, introduced that efforts will be made to accelerate the construction of a national integrated data market, promote the improvement of the responsibility system for the development and utilization of public data resources, and deeply implement a new round of action plans for the construction of six high-quality datasets, including strong foundation expansion and annotation challenges. Efforts will be made to form a virtuous cycle of scenario driven data, data-driven models, model empowerment applications, and application value creation.
The current domestic scene for calling lexical elements is greatly expanding, and market demand is showing explosive growth. The National Data Bureau will guide various regions to explore and cultivate diverse entities to participate in the lexical element industry ecosystem. During the 15th Five Year Plan period, the demand for data from artificial intelligence will continue to grow, opening up new space for the development of the data industry. AI native data technology and industrial innovation will accelerate breakthroughs.
Wang Wei, Director of the Data Resources Research Department of the National Institute of Data Development, stated that from an overall trend perspective, China's data industry will continue to maintain rapid growth. By the end of the 15th Five Year Plan period, it is expected that the annual compound growth rate of the data industry scale will exceed 15%, the industry scale will exceed 10 trillion yuan, and the comprehensive strength will be significantly enhanced.
