Shanghai Charity Week opens next week, continuing to promote the warmth of a cup of coffee

Watch the news above. September 5th this year is the 11th "Chinese Charity Day" in China. The reporter learned from the press conference of the Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau that this year's "Shanghai Charity Week" will be held from August 31 to September 6. The city will spend a week focusing on the theme of "walking with goodness and gathering goodness to form a sea", with charity culture leading and national charity action as the key. Through city level home events, linkage with 16 districts and various social forces, charity will enter the streets, commercial districts, communities, and daily lives of citizens, creating a strong atmosphere of upward and good in the city.

Compared with previous years, this year's "Shanghai Charity Week" places more emphasis on public participation, cultural guidance, and grassroots outreach in event planning, presenting four major features: firstly, more immersive experiences, such as Citywalk and "one-day store manager", which citizens can participate in, are more diverse and abundant; Secondly, the culture of charity is more profound. For the first time, the "Benevolent Lover" charity culture exhibition has been launched, allowing citizens to appreciate the inheritance of charity in the historical context of Shanghai city; Thirdly, the grassroots positions are more active, and for the first time, they have joined forces with charity supermarkets across the city to launch the "Good Warmth Shanghai" campaign, making charity accessible and accessible to everyone; Fourthly, the atmosphere of charity is becoming increasingly prominent, and the city is paying more attention to actively participating in charity weeks by leveraging social forces. This year, on the basis of organizing a wide range of social organizations and caring enterprises to participate in charity weeks, we will further unite with the new class of people in the city to actively participate, forming a strong atmosphere of the whole city striving for goodness and doing good deeds for all.

It is reported that on the morning of September 5th, the 2026 "Shanghai Charity Week" themed event will be held at the Xuhui Binjiang Model Speed Space. The promotional video "Walking with Goodness" for the 2026 "Shanghai Charity Week" theme will be played on site, and the "Report on the Development of Shanghai's Charity Industry (2025)" will be released; Concentrate on showcasing the achievements of social organizations participating in targeted aid construction in border areas; Present in the form of micro interviews how charitable organizations actively play a role in the entire process of "charitable trust+pension service trust+designated guardianship+inheritance management".

This year, the "Shanghai Charity Week" has further expanded the forms and content of activities. For example, launching the "Good Deeds in Shanghai" charity Citywalk event. This activity is a comprehensive upgrade based on last year's charity Citywalk, innovatively creating a city wide charity Citywalk system with "1 municipal demonstration main line+16 district level characteristic branch lines", connecting all types of charity landmarks such as charity supermarkets, welfare lottery stations, volunteer service agencies, and charity cultural exhibition halls. On August 31st, the city level route launch ceremony kicked off this year's "Shanghai Charity Week". Citizens visited charity landmarks by walking and cycling, participated in volunteer services, experienced "one-day store clerks" at charity supermarkets, learned about Shanghai's charity culture, and other tangible charity activities, immersing themselves in the warmth of the city.

In conjunction with the opening of the Shanghai Civil Affairs Museum, a charity cultural special exhibition of the Shanghai Civil Affairs Museum will be held simultaneously at the Xuhui Riverside and themed event venues, condensing and presenting the history of charity culture in China, especially in Shanghai, and showcasing Shanghai's unique position as a hub for modern and contemporary charity work. After the theme activity, the special exhibition will be moved to Xintiandi Park for Shanghai Public Welfare and continue to be displayed until the end of September.

During the "Shanghai Charity Week", a series of "Shannuan Shencheng" charity supermarket activities will be launched, and 19 "Charity Supermarket One Day Store Manager" experience points will be set up throughout the city. Participants will immerse themselves in the daily operation of the charity supermarket and receive the "Charity Supermarket One Day Store Manager" volunteer certificate. At the charity market, 16 excellent charity supermarkets from all over the city will be showcased, and more than 60 wonderful "good goods" will be displayed. Citizens will select the "most popular items" on site, making the charity supermarkets truly "alive, hot, and bright", and allowing ordinary citizens to experience, consume, and participate.

This year marks the fifth year that Shanghai has launched the "Warmth of a Cup of Coffee" campaign, which will continue to collaborate with coffee shops across the city. Through various means such as donating every cup of coffee sold, citizens scanning QR codes to donate, and social organizations donating, we will raise funds to support children's care public welfare projects. During Shanghai Charity Week, the 8th Shanghai Social Organization Public Welfare Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition will also be held to award prizes. On the afternoon of September 2nd, the exhibition and award ceremony of the competition results was held in the East Branch of Shanghai Library, and the public welfare achievements were simultaneously displayed.
