Planting situation: Hainan is the earliest coffee producing area in China, with a glorious history of planting, but the planting area has since shrunk significantly. Hainan is more suitable for growing Robusta coffee due to climate, altitude, and other factors.
Production and processing: The local coffee bean production in Hainan is only about 200 tons, accounting for only 2% of the national total, which cannot meet the processing needs of Hainan coffee enterprises. Enterprises need to import coffee beans from Vietnam, Ethiopia, Yunnan and other places. At present, the coffee processing capacity in the province exceeds 30000 tons, and Wanning has concentrated nearly 80% of the province's coffee processing capacity, covering planting, processing, and trade.
Policy support: The Hainan Provincial Party Committee and Government attach great importance to the coffee industry and have launched a three-year action plan to cultivate and develop the entire coffee industry chain. A series of supportive policies have been adopted, such as cultivating excellent coffee varieties, promoting coffee under forest planting, and introducing leading enterprises. Industrial integration: The coffee culture and tourism in Hainan are deeply integrated, forming a development model of "coffee+tourism", such as the Chengmai Fushan Coffee Culture Town, Wanning Jinan Kexinglong Coffee Museum, etc. Tourists can experience the coffee making process and feel the coffee culture here.
